FROM EMPTY SPACE TO THE IMPRESSIONABLE PERFORMANCE
The performing designer—Stage Design, Concert Design, or any Performance, is not differ from
architect. There are the same in design process but in some criteria of evaluations make the different. When architect designs a restaurant, he begins with researches and studies to design a suitable restaurant for all users. To compare for easy understanding, we can conclude the roles of teamwork as;
Director who is everything in the show, as same as the owner of restaurant who knows all requirements in the best.
Show Director as the manager, who controls and takes care everything follows the restaurant’s requirements. Performer is a person who entertaining the audience as a creative chef cooks a delicious food.
Production Team as cooking instruments, but in the show - lighting system, sound system and scenery are the performing instruments to support the performer shows the best entertainment.
Audience as the customers who expect on a good food, as same as in the show, they expect on the best entertainment. So we should emphasize on this target firstly.
After research all information, we start in design process, with the same procedure;
1. Site Survey - Firstly, we do a site surveying, plan on zoning and include study on sound system, lighting system, props also the audience seating. 2. Bubble Diagram - From the research and information, we start to design zoning. 3. Tabulation - Layout should prepare to an adequate area for all functions, both of the performance and the sound. Besides the performing area depends on type of the show; the Band wants a small space but the Dance performance wants a bigger space same as the Stage play. Anyway, it depends on size and shape of the Theatre too. 4. System Planning - Usually,Production Teams always work with other designers,sound engineer
and scenery designer. The controllers are grouped at the back of the hall align a center of stage, to
overview overall on stage. But in the Concert, sound engineer is set to a same level as platform that is the same level of audience’s hearing.
5. Design Phase - Then we start on layout and scenery. The design criteria has several factors such as a character of performer, mood-and-tone of the show, including the details of activities on stage. Particularly, a Stage play should base on the story line, a location of a scene and also the performer’s feeling. Moreover, the audience seat should prepare in appropriated zoning to the performance. 6. Working drawing - When the design was done, we begin on working drawing process for a production.
Finally, actual working in every show might have differentiated details. But in procedure, we found nothing differs. Customers go to a restaurant just for a good food; a pleasant surrounding can make a food more delicious. As the same of performance, we design in everything for the audiences perceive the best entertainment.
จากพื้นที่ที่ว่างเปล่าสู่การแสดงที่คุณประทับใจ
การเป็นนักออกแบบงานแสดง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นละครเวที คอนเสิร์ต หรือการแสดงใดนั้น จริงๆ แล้วก็ไม่ได้ต่างกับการเป็นสถาปนิกเท่าใดนัก ด้วยขั้นตอนและวิธีการออกแบบที่คล้ายคลึงกัน เพียงแต่อาจจะต้องมีกรอบเกณฑ์ในการวัดผลที่แตกต่างกันเท่านั้นเอง เมื่อสถาปนิกจะออกแบบร้านอาหารสักแห่งหนึ่ง ก็จะต้องเริ่มต้นจากการทำ ความรู้จัก เก็บข้อมูลจากผู้ที่ใช้สอยในร้านทั้งหมด เพื่อให้สามารถออกแบบร้านอาหารได้ถูกใจเจ้าของร้านและผู้ที่มาใช้สอย ถ้าเปรียบเทียบให้เห็นภาพและเข้าใจง่าย ในการออกแบบงานแสดงสามารถแบ่งเป็นหน้าที่หลักได้ ดังนี้
ผู้กำกับ (Director) ผู้กำกับเป็นทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างของงานแสดง เป็นเหมือนเจ้าของร้านอาหารที่ต้องรู้ว่ามีความต้องการอย่างไร และหาทางทำมันออกมาให้ได้อย่างดีที่สุด
ผู้กำกับเวที (Show Director) เปรียบเสมือนผู้จัดการร้านอาหาร ที่คอยดูแลควบคุมให้ทุกอย่างดำเนินไปตามความต้องการนั้น
นักแสดงและนักดนตรี (Performer) นักแสดงเป็นผู้ที่มีหน้าที่ถ่ายทอดสารและความสนุกไปถึงผู้ชม เปรียบเสมือนเชฟผู้สร้างสรรค์อาหารเลิศรสขึ้นมา
ทีมแสง เสียง และฉาก (Production Team) เปรียบเสมือนอุปกรณ์ในการทำอาหารต่างๆ ในทางการแสดงนั้นระบบแสงสีเสียงและฉาก ก็เป็นสิ่งที่ช่วยให้นักแสดงสามารถสื่อสารและถ่ายทอดการแสดงออกมาสู่ผู้ชมได้อย่างดีที่สุดเช่นกัน
คนดู (Audience) คือ ลูกค้าของร้าน ผู้ที่จ่ายเงินเข้ามาและคาดหวังว่าจะได้ทานอาหารอร่อยๆ ซึ่งในที่นี้ก็คือคาดหวังว่าจะเจอกับการแสดงที่สนุกและประทับใจ ดังนั้นเราจึงควรให้ความสำคัญกับคนกลุ่มนี้เป็นอันดับแรก
เมื่อพูดคุยและหาข้อมูลได้แล้ว เราจะเริ่มทำขั้นตอนการออกแบบ ซึ่งจะมีขั้นตอนที่คล้ายกันคือ 1. ศึกษาพื้นที่ (Site Survey) โดยไปสำรวจว่าพื้นที่นั้นเป็นอย่างไร เหมาะกับการจัดวางพื้นที่ใช้สอยอย่างไรบ้าง รวมไปถึงเรื่องการติดตั้งระบบเสียงและระบบไฟแสงสี และอุปกรณ์ต่างๆ บนเวที สุดท้ายคือเรื่องของพื้นที่ของคนดู ที่ต้องได้จำนวนคุ้มกับผลประโยชน์ทางธุรกิจให้ได้มากที่สุด 2. จัดวาง Layout พื้นที่ (Bubble Diagram) โดยนำข้อมูลที่ได้จากการศึกษาพื้นที่มาใช้ในการจัดวางภาพรวมของพื้นที่
3. จัดวาง Function ของศิลปิน, ผู้แสดง และนักดนตรี (Tabulation) การจัดพื้นที่ให้เพียงพอต่อการใช้งานทั้งการแสดงและการได้ยินเสียง นอกจากนี้พื้นที่สำหรับทำการแสดงจะขึ้นอยู่กับประเภทของการแสดง ถ้าเป็นวงดนตรีก็ไม่จำเป็นต้องมีพื้นที่ที่ใช้แสดงมาก ศิลปินจะได้ใกล้ชิดคนดูที่สุด แต่ถ้าเป็นคอนเสิร์ตของศิลปินที่มีการแสดงหรือเต้น พื้นที่ที่ใช้ก็จะใหญ่ขึ้น ส่วนละครเวทีจะใช้พื้นที่ค่อนข้างกว้างเช่นกัน แต่ทั้งนี้ขึ้นอยู่กับขนาดและรูปแบบของโรงละครด้วย
4. จัดวางระบบแสงสีเสียง (System Planning) Production Team จะทำงานคู่กับนักออกแบบแสง ผู้วางระบบเสียง และผู้ติดตั้งระบบจอภาพ ผู้ควบคุมงานระบบทั้งหมดจะถูกจัดเป็นกลุ่มอยู่ทางด้านหลัง Hall ในตำแหน่งที่ตรงกับกลางเวที เพื่อให้เห็นภาพทั้งหมดบนเวทีได้ชัดเจนที่สุด แต่ส่วนใหญ่ในงานคอนเสิร์ต Sound Engineer จะถูกจัดให้อยู่ระดับเดียวกับพื้นเวทีซึ่งเท่ากับระดับที่ผู้ชมจะได้ยินเสียง 5. การวางผังและการออกแบบ (Design Phase) จากนั้นจึงเริ่มวางผังและออกแบบฉาก ซึ่งหลักการและปัจจัยในการออกแบบมีหลายอย่าง เริ่มตั้งแต่ Character ของศิลปิน หรือ Mood & Tone ของงานแสดงนั้น รวมไปถึงรายละเอียดของกิจกรรมต่างๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นบนเวที ก็จะเป็นตัวกำหนดงานออกแบบด้วยเช่นกัน โดยเฉพาะถ้าเป็นละครเวทีจะต้องทำบนพื้นฐานของบทเป็นหลัก ทั้งสถานที่ที่ตัวแสดงเล่น และบรรยากาศอารมณ์ที่ตัวแสดงสื่อออกมา นอกเหนือจากนั้นส่วนของคนดูต้องจัดวางให้เหมาะสมกับงานแสดงด้วย
6. การเขียนแบบ (Working Drawing) เมื่อได้งานออกแบบที่ครบถ้วนในทุกรายละเอียดแล้ว เราก็จะเข้าสู่ขั้นตอนการเขียนแบบเพื่อนำไปผลิตจริง
ท้ายที่สุดแล้วการทำงานจริงของทุกๆ งานแสดงอาจจะมีรายละเอียดของงานต่างกันออกไป แต่ในกระบวนการทำงานจะพบว่าไม่แตกต่างกันนัก การที่ลูกค้าเข้าไปในร้านอาหารร้านหนึ่งก็ต้องการทานอาหารอร่อย และบรรยากาศที่อยู่รอบตัวในร้านสามารถช่วยส่งเสริมความอร่อยของอาหารนั้นให้มากยิ่งขึ้นได้ เช่นเดียวกับการทำโชว์หรือละคร ที่เราต้องออกแบบทุกอย่างเพื่อให้ผู้ชมได้รับความสนุกในการชมการแสดงอย่างเต็มเปี่ยม
