Zombie is popular devil which often seen in series and movies. Therefore, Columbia College has a Zombie Methodology Course, studying background and history of Zombie and also studying in Voodoo History in Haiti, the origin of Zombie.
เวลาดูละครหรือภาพยนตร์ ผีชนิดหนึ่งที่เรามักเจอบ่อยมาก คือ ผีซอมบี้ (อาทิ Resident Evil) ดังนั้นที่ Columbia College จึงได้เปิดคอร์สสอนเกี่ยวกับผีซอมบี้ เพื่อศึกษาประวัติและต้นกำเนิดของผีซอมบี้ โดยใช้ทฤษฎีต่างๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสื่อ นอกจากนี้ยังศึกษาเกี่ยวกับประวัติของชาววูดูในประเทศเฮติที่เป็นประเทศต้นกำเนิดของซอมบี้อีกด้วย
The Science of Superheroes (วิทยาศาสตร์ของซูเปอร์ฮีโร่)
When we saw about superheroes in cartoons and movies then we asked how they can fly or how they have a power. So University of California (Irvine) opens a Science of Superheroes Course, studying about physics which related to superheroes such as flying (Can we actually fly?), climbing (like Spiderman). It is the way to studying an imagination on the screens
ตอนเด็กเวลาดูการ์ตูนหรือภาพยนตร์ต่างๆ ที่มีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับซูเปอร์ฮีโร่ เคยสงสัยมั้ยว่า ทำไมเหล่าฮีโร่ถึงบินได้ ? ทำไมถึงปล่อยพลังได้ ? นั่นคือสาเหตุที่ University of California (Irvine) ได้เปิดคอร์สสอนเกี่ยวกับวิทยาศาสตร์ของซูเปอร์ฮีโร่ เพื่อให้นักศึกษาที่สนใจได้ศึกษาว่ามีเนื้อหาฟิสิกส์อะไรบ้างที่เกี่ยวข้องกับซูเปอร์ฮีโร่ เช่น การเหาะ (คนเราเหาะได้จริงหรือไม่) การไต่ผนัง (ของสไปเดอร์แมน) คือนำจินตนาการจากในหนังมาศึกษาเป็นเรื่องเป็นราวนั่นเอง
Learning From YouTube (เรียนรู้ผ่าน YouTube)
Summer Semester in 2007, Pitzer College open a Learning From YouTube Course. The studying focuses on to let the student discuss on YouTube’s clip videos. Pitzer College believes that the way to study on worldwide cultures via YouTube’s Clip, particularly on internet’s culture.
ในภาคเรียนฤดูใบไม้ร่วงปี 2007 ที่ Pitzer College ได้เปิดสอนคอร์สเรียนที่มีชื่อว่า Learning From YouTube เนื้อหาการเรียนการสอนก็คือ ให้นักศึกษาดูคลิปต่างๆ จาก YouTube แล้วนำเนื้อหาของคลิปมาวิพากษ์วิจารณ์กัน เพราะเชื่อว่าเราสามารถศึกษาวัฒนธรรมของแต่ละประเทศผ่านคลิปวิดีโอใน YouTube ได้ โดยเฉพาะวัฒนธรรมการใช้อินเทอร์เน็ต
Spa and Hospitality Operations (การจัดการสปา)
This course has popular in Thailand because Thailand is famous in Spa and Massage. But the institutions training in spa management is hardly found. The University of California (Irvine) opens the courses for people who targets on spa business, studying in business planning, marketing, and Spa license in legally. As well as spa design to attract customers.
ถือเป็นหลักสูตรที่นำมาเปิดสอนในบ้านเรามาก เพราะเมืองไทยโด่งดังเรื่องนวดแผนไทยและสปา แต่กลับมีสถาบันที่เปิดสอนหลักสูตรการจัดการสปาน้อยมาก แต่ที่ University of California (Irvine) มีเปิดสอนหลักสูตรนี้ สำหรับคนที่ตั้งเป้าอยากทำธุรกิจสปาโดยเฉพาะ ตั้งแต่การวางแผนธุรกิจ การทำการตลาด การขอใบอนุญาตเปิดสปาอย่างถูกกฏหมาย รวมถึงการดีไซน์ออกแบบสปาเพื่อดึงดูดลูกค้า
